Histriva is a product and brand owned by Evenstride, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Evenstride," "we," "us," or "our").
Why this page exists
Histriva is built to help you change your behavior — that's the whole point of a growth companion. Any product that helps people build habits uses persuasive design: streaks, reminders, encouragement, progress framing. Most wellness apps use these techniques and never tell you. We'd rather be plain about it.
This page explains exactly what we do to encourage you, what we deliberately won't do, and the controls you have. If you ever feel Histriva is pushing instead of supporting, that's a bug — tell us at support@histriva.com.
Our commitment
Support, never pressure. Histriva's voice is a trusted companion, not a drill sergeant. We measure success by whether you feel encouraged and in control — not by how many notifications we can get you to open. When those two goals ever conflict, your sense of agency wins.
What we use
- Streaks and consistency framing. We show how many days in a row you've kept a habit, because seeing a run builds momentum. A broken streak is never framed as a failure — it's just a number that starts again.
- Milestone and progress framing. Goals break into milestones, and domain scores show movement over time, so progress feels concrete. Scores use empathetic bands ("On track", "Let's start here"), never letter grades or verdicts.
- Encouragement and celebration. We acknowledge wins — a kept commitment, a streak milestone, an exceeded target — at least as loudly as we note shortfalls.
- Notification scheduling. With your opt-in, we send timely nudges: a daily briefing, mood check-in reminders, weekly digests, re-engagement notes if you've been away, and accountability outreach when you fall short of a commitment you set. Every one of these is off by default or clearly controllable, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Tone-aware coaching. The AI adapts its warmth and directness to your stated preferences, so the encouragement fits you.
What we deliberately don't use
- No social shaming or leaderboards. Your progress is never ranked against other people. There is no public feed, no comparison, no "you're falling behind everyone else."
- No variable-reward / gambling-style loops. We don't use unpredictable rewards, loot-box mechanics, or intermittent reinforcement designed to make the app compulsive.
- No FOMO or false urgency. No fake countdowns, no "act now or lose it", no manufactured scarcity.
- No dark patterns. Turning off a notification, pausing coaching, or deleting your account is as easy as turning it on — never buried, never guilt-tripped.
- No pressure during a hard time. If our signals suggest you're struggling, we suppress shortfall nudges and pressure copy entirely. A missed-commitment reminder will never fire at someone who's having a difficult stretch.
The controls you have
- Notification and email preferences — turn any category on or off, and set cadence, in Settings. Accountability and digest emails are opt-in.
- One-click unsubscribe on every email.
- Coaching tone and pacing — set how warm, direct, or challenging the AI is.
- Pause AI coaching entirely at any time.
- Delete your data — a full export and account deletion path, no retention hold.
A note on accountability
Holding you to the commitments you set is a core part of what Histriva does — but accountability here means a companion who notices and checks in, never a system that punishes. Accountability outreach is opt-in, honest about what it saw ("2 of 4 gym sessions this week"), gives your wins equal airtime, and is silenced whenever you're going through a hard time. You are always in control of whether, and how often, we reach out.
Younger users
Histriva is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly apply persuasive techniques to anyone under the age required by our Terms of Service.
