Safety Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026 · Version 1.0 · Changelog

In an emergency

Histriva is not a crisis service. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number now. In the US, you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), available 24/7. Histriva can point you toward help, but it cannot provide emergency care.

1. What this policy covers

Histriva is an AI-powered personal-growth companion. Because we support people through real, sometimes difficult moments, safety is built into the product — not added on. This policy explains, in plain language, how we keep the experience safe: how we respond to crisis signals, how we moderate our AI, who can use the app, and how we handle safety information. It complements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2. Crisis response

When something you write suggests you may be in crisis, Histriva stops coaching and surfaces professional support resources for your region (such as the 988 Lifeline in the US) right away. We do this automatically, in real time.

What we do not do, and never will:

  • Pretend to be a therapist, counselor, or emergency service.
  • Replace professional mental-health care.
  • Use anything you share in a vulnerable moment to pressure, shame, or upsell you.

Histriva's coaching is for growth and reflection. It is not medical, clinical, or mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional.

3. How our AI is kept safe

  • Response screening. Every AI message is checked before you see it. We block shame, punishment, "hustle/grind" pressure, and other harmful patterns — coaching should encourage, never coerce.
  • Mood-aware tone. If you've shared that you're having a hard time, the AI softens its tone and eases off pressure. We never use your mood against you.
  • No hidden cross-talk. The AI only ever sees your own information. It cannot access another person's data.

4. Who can use Histriva

Histriva is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We ask you to confirm your age at sign-up.

5. Safety monitoring — what it is and isn't

To keep people safe, our system records when a safety signal occurs (for example, a crisis classification) and can alert our team to repeated high-risk patterns. This exists for safety, not surveillance:

  • The free-text you write in mood reflections is encrypted and is not read by our team as a matter of course. Accessing it requires a specific, logged reason.
  • We never use your personal content to train AI models. (See our Privacy Policy and data-handling commitments.)
  • If a repeated crisis pattern is detected, our role is to ensure professional resources have been surfaced and to follow our internal safety procedures — not to contact you as counselors.

6. Protecting you from harmful actions

If you reach out to the app while in distress, Histriva adds friction to irreversible actions (like deleting your account) for a short window, so a difficult moment can't be turned into a permanent decision you didn't intend. Your right to delete your data is fully honored — this only affects the immediacy during an active safety window.

7. Reporting a safety concern

If you believe a response was unsafe, or you were incorrectly flagged, you can tell us through the in-app feedback controls or contact us. We review safety reports and continuously audit our safety rules.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Safety Policy as the product and best practices evolve. We'll bump the version and "last updated" date above when we make a material change.
